Job Overview:

A drafter is responsible for producing technical drawings and plans that accurately represent design concepts, specifications, and dimensions. These drawings serve as essential documents for construction, manufacturing, and other processes.

Responsibilities:

1.       Drafting and Design: Create technical drawings, plans, and diagrams using CAD software based on design concepts, sketches, specifications, and guidelines provided by engineers, architects, or designers.

2.       Detailing: Ensure that drawings include accurate dimensions, materials, tolerances, and other relevant information necessary for construction, fabrication, or production.

3.       2D and 3D Modeling: Utilize CAD software to produce both 2D and 3D models, depending on the requirements of the project.

4.       Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, architects, designers, and other team members to understand design intent and incorporate changes or revisions as needed.

5.       Review and Edit: Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with industry standards and project requirements. Make necessary edits and revisions based on feedback.

6.       Documentation: Prepare and maintain documentation related to drawings, revisions, and project changes for future reference.

7.       Standardization: Adhere to industry standards, codes, and best practices for drafting and design.

8.       Quality Control: Ensure that drawings are error-free and meet the required quality standards before distribution to relevant stakeholders.

9.       Conversion: Convert hand-drawn sketches or paper-based designs into digital formats using CAD software.

10.    Communication: Effectively communicate with other team members to clarify design intent, requirements, and potential issues.

11.    Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest CAD software tools, techniques, and industry trends to enhance drafting skills.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (minimum); vocational training or an associate degree in drafting, design, or a related field is preferred
• Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or similar tools.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drafting work.
• Understanding of engineering and design principles.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, sketches, and specifications.
• Good communication skills for collaboration and conveying design intent.
• Familiarity with 2D and 3D modeling techniques
