Overview :
Project Marvel 3 is a major strategic project for Unilever being executed by Unilever Oleochemical Indonesia (UOI). The role reports to Project Engineering Manager.
The Value Engineering & Cost controller will have responsibility for Value Engineering in all disciplines of project, monitors the project cost and identify the saving opportunities. The position will assist Project Engineering manager in project budget control.
This position is temporary during project, successfull candidate will be contract based.
Key Responsibilities :
- Responsible for developing cost/time estimates and identifies the most optimum design solutions to be applied for various areas of project
- Conduct value engineering activities and evaluations during both design and construction phases.
- Provide constructability reviews and provide feedback based on time and cost impact.
- Establish and maintain liaison with the discipline detail design engineering.
- Monitors deliveries of design and material to ensure timeliness in support of construction activities and schedule
- Improve project process by developing and implementing a WBS cost structure, then manage job-specific code of accounts for WBS approvals.
- Prepare weekly & monthly reports for cost performance including Goods Received.
- Prepare and maintain the forecasts for Cost and Goods Received for submission to the Finance team monthly
- Analyze purchase order commitment.
- Evaluate engineering changes to identify the cost variance
- Track and analyze cost activities, forecasting and budget
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualification & Competency Required:
- Active communication and Fluent in English is MUST
- Must be available to work at site at Sei Mangkei, Simalungun North Sumatera
- Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical Engineering Degree from a recognized University is essential.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in projects
- Management of Budgets and Cost Engineering
- Experience in Project execution, Construction & Engineering activities
- Oleo Chemical & Refinery Industry Experience is preferred
- Good knowledge of Site Contractor Management
- Experience of managing budgets within a project or operational environment
The following experience would be advantageous:
- Design Engineering
- Knowledgeable in the Unilever ways of working and Unilever project management practices.
- Experience of successfully working with multiple contractors.
- Experience of successfully working within multi-discipline, multi-cultural teams

UOI is one of the biggest Olechemical factories in the world and has been built on an area of 18 hectares, located in Special Economic Zone (KEK) Sei Mangkei, Blok M, N, R, S Huta VI District of Bosar Maligas, Simalungun, North Sumatra, Indonesia, where 30% of equipment manufacturers using domestic products, the plant is designed to process CPKO (Crude Palm Kernel Oil) and 95% of the products will be used by Unilever factories around the world.
